Bundaberg  Sailing Club

About

The Bundaberg Sailing Club is an association incorporated in the state of Queensland.

The Club was founded in 1908 on the town reach of the Burnett River and moved to it's current location on the Strathdee's reach of the river in 1980 – where both river and offshore racing are on offer. Since 1908 the Club has regularly held sailing events on Saturdays – when it is open from 8am until around 5pm. The Club is also home to Sailability Bundaberg, which meets on Thursdays during the week. The summer sailing season runs from early September to mid-May. There is also a short winter series in July.

History

A brief history of the Bundaberg Sailing Club from 1908 to 2008, researched and compiled by Marjorie Florence Kidd – 'So many over the years have contributed greatly to the club, too many to mention. Those acknowledged, is in no way meant to detract from those who have and continue to support the club and further the sport of sailing.'

Governance

The Bundaberg Sailing Club is an incorporated association governed and managed by a committee elected by the members at each annual general meeting. Committee members must retire and stand for re-election each year. The club's constitution was amended in August 2024 to allow committee members to be elected for five consecutive terms (previously three).
